Settlement of Spinal Injury case led by Charlotte Pegman

A 38 year old man has received a settlement from the London Borough of Barnet following a gymnastics injury. He was a member of the beginner's gymnastics class and was seriously injured when performing a backward somersault. Although he had been rendered wheelchair bound by the accident he has recently had a child with his partner. A 10 day High Court trial was listed to take place in the summer but the matter successfully resolved outside court. The man's solicitor Charlotte Pegman from Hubbard Pegman and Whitney said: "it has been a long hard struggle to get this final settlement. Initially it was uncertain that we would achieve any award at all because it was argued that the client was the author of his own misfortune and the local authority was not to blame. However, "we are happy to have concluded matters now and this settlement should go some way to securing a better future for our client and his family".
