HMCTS have informed the Law Society that the waiting times for grants of probate has fallen. The amount of grants that are being issued are now exceeding the applications received. Since November 2020, HMCTS have been operating an online application system which solicitors must now use. The online applications are taking around five weeks to process, provided there are no errors or missing information. Applications submitted on paper are taking longer to process – around eight weeks, however HMCTS have informed the Law Society that this timeframe is also falling.
