Continue readingHubbard Pegman and Whitney were proud to be one of the sponsors of the Onam Festival on Saturday 16th September. It was organised by the British Keralites Association. Peter Augustine, a valued member of the association, was joined by Ana Gonzalez and Figen Demiri.
The day was spent mingling with the attendees of the festival and enjoying a traditional Kerala style vegetarian sumptuous meal served for the hundreds people in attendance. The events of the day included a cultural programme inaugurated by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the ex-Mayor of Ealing Council and the Chairman of the Southall Community Alliance. In the afternoon there was formal entry in procession by the mythical King, Maveli, whose return to visit his subjects is the story behind the celebration of Onam Festival, which is a harvest Festival and a cultural extravaganza celebrated by all people of Kerala.
We at Hubbard Pegman and Whitney are very grateful for the opportunity to support the British Keralites Association.
