Continue readingHubbard Pegman & Whitney Solicitors support the action taken by Karl Tonks, APIL President who will be lobbying MPs on the new Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.
MPs were due to approve a new scheme last month to cut injuries which would be currently valued at less than £2,500.00, cut damages for those valued at £2,500.00 – £11,500.00 and reform loss of earnings payments. The proposed new scheme has strong opposition from both Conservative and Labour MPs. It appears that Ministers are reconsidering the scheme with the aim of bringing the scheme to Parliament for approval.
Hubbard Pegman & Whitney are concerned that people who have been victims of crime which is no fault of their own are being shut out further from accessing justice by these proposals. It is hoped that APIL’s strong opposition to the new scheme will be listened to.
